Writing

In the 2015 - 2016 year, there is no writing 'SAT' test.

Instead your level is decided by your teacher who looks at all the writing that you do in every subject in class (yes, in your science book and your morning work book too). You will be asked to provide copies of work for your evidence folders.

Your teacher takes some of these folders and your English book to meet with teachers from other primary schools and to the local secondary to check all the teachers agree how well you have been working. Sometimes a 'moderator' will visit us from Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service and they check that the teachers have awarded the right grade descriptions.
This year there is a new set of level descriptors which are:
  • Working Towards Year 6 Age Related Expectations
  • Working Within (or 'At') Year 6 Age Related Expectations
  • Working at Greater Depth in Year 6 Age Related Expectations
This Department for Education has released some examples of work by children working at different levels. You can see them in the files below.
